Writing Macedonia – Travelling towards "Longing for the south"

Literature workshop organized by
        Independent Writers of Macedonia (IWM)

      
        The workshop "Writing Macedonia" has exploring and creative character; it is a sort of literary colony.
        The workshop "Writing Macedonia" aims to present Macedonia from spiritual perspective. The participants would be asked to transform their experiences in written material. The participants would be introduced with history of visited locations, while moving toward regional relationship. During the travel, participants would be introduced to other landmarks. Participants' works would be published in their countries, and Republic of Macedonia would have honorable presentation. Translated into Macedonian, works would be published in a special issue of Naše pismo, literature magazine of IWM, enriched with photographs from the tour. Furthermore, there would be a cover story from the trip published in September issue of Žena nova family magazine.
        The workshop "Writing Macedonia" would be presented on the IWM web site (www.np.org.mk), with original and translated works, accompanied with photographs.
        Participants will hold literature readings along the way.
        The workshop "Writing Macedonia" was supported by:

        27 JUNE 2005 – Monday – Skopje
        Arrival of the participants, from 07 to 16 hours.
        18 hours: Press conference at "Lira" restaurant:
        Presenting the goals of the project, introducing participants, donors and partners of the project. Short introduction of activities of the independent writers' associations.
        20 hours: Poetry reading and coctail – at Matka – in collaboration with Skopje Summer
        Reading by 15 writers (the guests and Macedonian writers and members of IWM).
      
        28 JUNE – Tuesday – Berovo
        Travelling to Kriva Palanka, visiting St. Joakim Osogovski, goig towards Probištip, visiting St. Gavril Lesnovski, short brake in Kratovo, arriving at Berovo eraly in the evening. Accomodation at „Maleševo“ resort at Berovo Lake. Dinner..
      
        29 JUNE – Wednesday – Gevgelija
        Over Ogražden Mt. to the monasteries of Vodoča and Veljusa, then towards Smolari Waterfall, then to Dojran. Accommodation in Gevgelija, Hotel Yugo.
        20 hours: big poetry reading in Hotel Yugo (with participation of local poets, too)
      
        30 JUNE – Thursday – Trip towards the village of Brajčino, Prespa, through Prilep, Zrze monastery (optional), Varoš, Bitola (Heraklea, Širok sokak), Ljubojno. In Brajčino, accomodation in a private house, dinner.
      
        1-2 JULY – Friday-Saturday– vil. Trpejca
        Round-trip at Prespa Lake. Visiting Kurbinovo and Slivnik monastery, vil. Konjsko, boat transfer to the island of Golem grad (Big Town), drive over Galičica Mt., arrival at Sr. Naum. Afterwards, accomodation in Trpejca. Dinner... The following day, stroll through Ohrid and Struga (churches, Plaošnik Church, market...), dinner at Trpejca.
      
        3 JULY – Sunday – vil. Galičnik
        Leaving Trpejca via road to Debar. Visitng vil. of Rostuše, Sv. Jovan Bigorski monastery, and Rajčica monastery. Trip to Mavrovo, then to Galičnik. Dinner.      
      
        4 JULY – Monday – Skopje
        Strolling Skopje (St. Pantelejmon, Old Bazaar, St. Spas...). Departure of the foreign participants.
